Prayer of thanksgiving

“We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NRSV)

Rest in the presence of God and pray…

Ever-Present God,

The cool air on my face.

The ability to put one leg in front of the other.

The money to purchase the medications I need.

The ability to see the calm still river that flows.

The ears to hear the ducks and the words of others.

The people in my life who listen and support and listen again.

For all of this I am thankful and recognize that in the midst of life, you, Lord, have shown me love through these things and so much more.

Thank you, Lord, for the sun on my face after many overcast days.

Thank you, Lord, for the smiles of children and the excitement of learning.

Thank you, Lord, for the warmth of the bed during the cold hours of the night.

Thank you, Lord, for the sweet treat that reminds of things that are good.

Thank you, Lord, for the issues that bring me closer to You – that help me to seek and know you more fully – to open my eyes to the unexpected and new ways that you work in my life – even those things that we wish we could avoid.  Thank you.

Thank you, Lord, for you are my Lord – and that is all that matters right now.  I don’t have to do anything or be anything other than your child – one in which you have chosen – to live free and loved.

Thank you, Lord.

In the name of Jesus, my Lord.  Amen.
